2 Goats and four chicken

Laila and Erling Størset from Norway deposited 500 NOK into our Goodwill account but set a condition on the gift. They wanted us to buy a goat for the money. We were also told to name the goat Lea after their grandchild, so the task was to buy a goat and tell the people to name it Lea.

It sounded like a fun and exciting project. This being a generous gift of 700 US Dollar, we surely would get a price winning goat for that amount.

We stayed at a village by Lake Malawi for four days and during that time we met a family that definitely would need some goodwill from cape2cape. A widow mother of 8 children from 26 down to 2 years of age. The mother was so week she could not stand upright, she carried the devastating HIV virus which has already gotten into the last stage (AIDS) We have no idea how long she would manage to hold onto life, we cant see that she will be able to celebrate Christmas together with her family this year.

The kids lost their father two years ago, also due to HIV/AIDS and are now about to lose their mother.

When you meet people with such hardship in their daily life you just want to give them everything to try to help and support them. Being able to give them something through the Goodwill project was so satisfying and although it is not much, it will help the family a great deal in the coming months. In addition to the goat we were asked to buy, we could buy an additional goat and four chicken. We also bought some clothes and gave the mother some money for medical care.

We are thankful that Erling and Laila's contribution and on behalf of the Wisiki family we would like to say thank you very much. Just remember that you have 10 new friends in the Chembe village in Malawi and if you have Africa on your "holiday list", this place is extra special with a first class lodge close to the village.
