Tan Tan, Morocco - Tuesday 22 January 2008 - Campervan heaven
Really, this is so unexpected and at the same time so unfamiliar. Hundreds, if not thousands of campervans, mobile homes in all different sizes are parked alongside the coastal line of Morocco. Mostly Germans and French citizens, most of them old enough to be my parents. I choose one of the campsite close to Tan Tan on Monday night and parked next to a German couple, he 69 and she slightly younger. Very nice people who has been travelling to Morocco six times with their "small" Mercedes van. Small compared to most of the mobile homes you see around here.
They are happy here and as they come back year after year, its not a surprise. I met another German (70 years of age) on his first Moroccan experience and he is not at all happy. He like Tunisia and will never come back to Morocco and says everything is filthy, unorganized and with annoying kids anywhere! Well, we humans are not alike. The Government is not at all happy about the caravan invasion as they are described as polluters, trash-wagons and leaving tons of garbage behind. We have one major dilemma here, first the tourist complaining about this filthy nation and the tourist polluting it. Isn't he the same guy?
