Saly, Senegal - Sunday 30 December 2007 - Good bye to Eli
Time accelerates when you really are in a party mood... Not
that we have been ecstatically partying around the clock during the festive
holidays, but being surrounded with really good friends, good food and numerous
gin & tonics has been a great party for me. How fortunate I am to have Rune and
Eli as friends is something I never will stop to cherish and it is hard to
describe the relationship on “paper” without getting too emotional. Our female
companion Eli left the team on Sunday morning on her way to Gambia to catch the
charter flight back to Norway. What she brought along this year made her Santa
of the year and I am not entirely thinking of all the gifts and traditional
Norwegian food alone. That she decided to join us after so many weeks of
uncertainty and problems is amazing and something that turned Rune and me into
two very lucky men.
Thanks a lot Eli for a short but great time and we wish you a safe trip back
home. The rest of us are again heading north, this time further north towards
the Mauritanian border. We hope to arrive at the “overlanders” paradise Zebra
bar on Sunday to make ourselves ready to jump into the New Year 2008.
