Dakar, Senegal - Saturday 29 December 2007 - No more bad news in 2007 (after today)...
Unfortunately, I am forced to share some bad news today, but I promise, this is the last one this year! On the above picture we are really not looking that depressed, but we have learned to, and are good at ignoring dark moments. I must admit that I sometimes wonder why though...
The above picture was staged for a newspaper in Norway as a "End of the Year" story, and if you know how to interpret the Norwegain language you can enjoy the article here.
Yes, I announced some bade news; Betsy is sadly stuck in the clinic over New Year and we are not able to visit her before 7th of January. It looks like we have runned out of luck regarding the health of our good companion which force us to abandon her during these festive days. As Dr Marc said; Its for her own good and he didn't recommend her to leave the bed before the next surgery that will take place after the holidays (Thursday 3rd January).
What is wrong is hard for me to explain, because all mechanical terminology sounds Greek to me and because I don't know much about anything. All I know is that Betsy still needs to be looked after and that she is not 100 % well.
The plan now is to to rent a wreck that can take our 2,5 meter long tent construction and enable us to move around. There is a lot to see and do in Senegal, so there is no reason to sit ourselves down to steer at the wall (although the walls are neatly decorated) The intention to drive Eli to Gambia is still valid and making sure that she is one of the passangers on the returnflight from Banjul on Monday. Otherwise we just have to do what we did on the above picture; Send her off with firecrackers...
