Monrovia, Liberia - Tuesday 4 December 2007 - Missing the good old days
On Monday we were ready for the new pressure plate and clutch disk so I sat myself down and waited. It took almost six hours to get it and by late afternoon they started to install the cutch and gearbox again (!!!) For how many time I don't know, but the way they were struggling get it in puzzled me slightly. Repeating this procedure so many times they should be able to do it blindfolded. But the problem still resist and we are taken back two steps as they now are foundling into areas that they have no competence what so ever. We are expecting someone from the Land Rover dealership on Tuesday with (hopefully) some good ideas. Departure is delayed until further notice.
That brings me to another question, I am too equipped, too advanced? I don't know if a Renault (above picture) should stand for simplicity as such, but camping trips in the old days must have been easier. One tent, a sleeping bag, some moonshine and lots of enthusiasm. It is now four days before my next co-pilot arrives in Dakar and that would be difficult even with a speedboat. Don't worry I will be there soon. The above picture is from one of my parents camping trips, taken in 1964.
