Monrovia, Liberia - Wednesday 7 November 2007 - Arrived in Monrovia, Liberia's capital

I am relived and very calm although this is told to be the worst place in the city. The picture shows my parking bay here at the harbour of Monrovia where we camped the first night in the big city. Driving through town was a bit spooky as it was dark as in the deepest Congo forest. Streetlights and colourful signs on tall buildings were missing due to lack of electricity and in short that's part of this country's illness. Due to hard core disputes amongst countrymen, this country has been hit very hard and its eminent, specially on infrastructure. I am camped down at the yard at Cecil Barnes, Cape Maritime Agency and I am very happy to be in his care and satisfied that Betsy now will be in good hands.
