Danane,  Ivory Coast - Tuesday 23 October 2007 - Some good news

Just let me tell you something; Its not only negative things happening to the project even though we are not moving much these days. I got an email from Monrovia that told me that the carnet had arrived at the UN office. This means we can travel more smoothly through borders and thanks a lot to Tessa in Joburg and Joseph in Monrovia for helping me retrieve these papers.

Other good news is that Aisha (See previous blog) managed to finish the shop with the money received from Byggern Lervik and Solveig og Ivar Gaustad. There is now only some small work outside and inside before she can start working there. Well done Aisha.

As for the progress on the car, I still await THE message about someone locating a gearbox. On Tuesday we might decide on trying to repair and weld to see if it might get us over the border and to the main road. From there I can always find a truck to tow me to the coastal town of Monrovia. Nothing is decided, just keep a lookout on what will happen. The Danane slideshow is still here

The picture shows Ivory Coasts brown gold, the cocoa beans. The country's biggest asset as they are the number one producer of cocoa in the whole World. Now is the harvest season and you find these beans drying in the sun before packed in bags and shipped out of the country.
