Accra, Ghana - Tuesday 25 September 2007 - Presentation of Ghana
Due to unfortunate annoyances with cabling, electricity and computer oriented breakdown we forgot to tell you a little bit about Ghana. Now that Betsy is back on the road, lets give you a few stats.
Ghana has a population of 21 million people and in the capital of Accra there are about 2 million, size wise this means it is densely populated. This year has been an important tourist year for Ghana as they are celebrating 50 years of independence from the colonial powers. Ghana is formerly best known for being the centre of a valuable gold region and later slave trade nation. The main exports now are still gold together with cocoa and timber. The Portuguese first came to the country in 1482 and followed by several different European powers over the last 500 years. For sports enthusiasts Ghana is well known, being one of the four African countries to participate in the World Cup in Germany 2006.
