Kronkobite, Ghana - Tuesday 11 September 2007 - Overambitious?

We might have stepped too deep into the water this time, but why not radicalize our Goodwill stunts a bit? The lazy days at the beach needed to be puffed up a bit and that is why we are part of building a business. It could easily fit into the category woman empowerment.

As you know, we are occasionally helping people on our way north and this time we came upon someone that was in need of a few dollars for establishing a "beauty saloon". Not that there is a lack of it along the coast, but listening to Aisha and her plans made us eager to be part of the process.

Aisha came to Ghana seven years ago from Sierra Leone when the country suffered from the well known "Blood Diamond" civil wars. She fled together with millions of her countrymen and ended up in a refugee camp in Ghana. Many of the refugees has moved out of the camps and tried to start a new life here in Ghana. Aisha has a mobile beauty saloon right now where she takes all her equipment with her when she has a costumer. Her biggest dream is to have her own shop and heres were we enter the scene. A follow up will come in a couple of week...
