Wa, Ghana - Wednesday 5 September 2007 - We celebrate our Queens 70th birthday

We are proud to be present on this day and it is great joy to watch my mother tackle all the hassle with climatic differences, car problems, all the waiting, the heat, the bumpy roads, thunder, storm and heavy rain. What makes me the most proud is; There is not a single complaint, just pure happyness. To see her in the rural villages interacting with the people without understanding a word is just a treat.

We wish our own cape2cape Queen a happy seventieth birthhday and may there be several more oportunites for her to visit her sister, Mother Africa.

We planned to be on a small quiet restaurant by the Atlantic ocean to have a real feast with fish and whitewine on Wednesday evening, but time will show what will happen and how we celebrate.

Tuesday afternoon we went on a safari with a Ghanian armed guard and we went for a bushwalk. We were tracking elephants through the lush bush and was lucky enough to find a couple. We were standing 40 meters away as they slowly moved forward grazing peacefully.
