Niamey, Niger - Saturday 4 August 2007 - Niamey, the country's capital

I shouldn't be surprised, but I must admit; I am proud of Betsy. She made it to Niamey, Niger's capital and main trading centre. The city is situated at the river Niger and serves as a port for almost all trade out of the country. Niger river is the only river the floats within this landlocked state and we are talking about a river that spits out 6 million litres every second. Myself I found the city a bit difficult to navigate in and couldn't find the city centre. This was mainly due to lack of signs and lack of maps. I plan to be here to give Betsy a small check and to visit a school. Unfortunately it is weekend, which means I have to be around for three days, leaving Niamey on Monday 6th August.
