On the roadside, Niger Thursday 2 August - A beautiful day, almost...

Arrived in Niger 1 August 2007 from Nigeria and Katsina. The reason for this introduction to the country pages is that I wanted to force you deeper into the web. This is how the start page for each country looks like (except for the calendar). These pages have their own left menu bar which will become active as soon as there is content behind them.
Because of some stupid mistake by the immigration in Nigeria, I had problems getting out of the country and ruined an almost perfect day on the road.
After some negotiation with the immigration officers (no bribe), they let the mistake pass and let me go. I planned to visit a school on the Nigerian side, but that had to be cancelled. Because of all this mess, it was late before I stamped into Niger and had to drive in the dark for 10 km before I camped. Then the heat, the sandstorm and the rain came and greeted us into country number 29. The rainy season ignores the borders.
Today's events on the road and with Betsy went well except some small hiccups and now that I am used to the sounds from "underneath", I feel better too.
