Kano Road Wildcamp, Nigeria - Wednesday 1 August 2007 - Walking on glass
Look at this cute little girl and her facial expression, it fits so well into today's blog that I had to include her. She is one of the many kids that greeted me when I parked after a day that ended up in an extreme headache. Today it is eighteen months since Betsy and myself left Johannesburg in South Africa and never during these months have I ever hesitated to start up and drive hundreds of kilometres, every day. Today was the first day I didn't look forward to be in the drivers seat and although we clocked almost 300 kilometres, it wasn't as fun and enjoyable as a normal cape2cape day. Constantly waiting for the crackdown, constantly listening to the strange sounds and wondering when the gearbox is going to collapse. The layshaft is again broken and I must say that both Stein and Jomar knows what they are talking about. I should have listened, but it was to late. I am now climbing northwards without reverse and fifth gear and if I meet an elephant he should be aware that I am not backing up!
I am sorry to sound too pitiful and anxious, but this is my webpage, you are just a visitor and most probably without ownership as a sponsor or donor. I pretty much can write what comes into my head. As the little girl on the picture, I am a bit worried, but not without hope and believes :-))))
