In the wild, Nigeria - Saturday 21 July 2007 - Be aware when filling up fuel

I must have slept again when filling up diesel at Total petrol station in Jos, Nigeria. I didn't even take the hint of fraud when the guy asked me to start up again and drive one meter further ahead. And you know why? He didn't want me to see the digits on the pump. He figured out that this white guy most likely will sit put in his car and today he was right. Normally I take a round, both prior to filling up and after, just to check the numbers. Well, not this time and I think I got about 40 liters of the 67 he charged. When it was discovered it was already too late. So even in oil rich Nigeria with all the trust worthy people, you can get screwed :-) Not a big deal but very irritation and unnecessary.

The picture: We are still handing out umbrellas and this was the last one of the 20 that was purchased in Douala, Cameroon. May it give shade for the sun and shelter for rain.
