N'Djamena, Chad - Sunday 15 July 2007 - Nope, not Florida... this is N'Djamena

Let me give you a few details about the landlocked and former French colony Chad and the capital N'Djamena. What surprised me when I drove through the city in search for shelter was how green it looked. All the green lungs with flowering trees, at least the places I managed to drive through the first day. There must be a hub of high story buildings somewhere... Chad has a population of about 10 million people and the capital a little over 1 million. The sad thing is that only 3 percent of the entire country is arable land and under cultivation. Main export is agricultural products, cotton, meat, fish (as long as it lasts). On the above picture is another fish... not endemic and not threatened.

It is not going to be an extended exploring of Chad and plan to be here maybe five days. As soon as the interview and my visa for Nigeria is stamped in, I will go west again. Which reminds me how angry I was at the border where I instructed the officers to stamp my passport on a certain page and leave the last blank page for my Nigerian visa. Well, as the passport went into the back office and I lost the sight and control of it, it happen. I already got information from the Norwegian consulate in Abuja, Nigeria that my new passport is there, but how do I get there now?
