Douala, Cameroon - Sunday 7 July 2007 - Getting too urbanized, so lets get the h.... out of here.

The above picture is Hotel SAWA where I have been visiting my friends from Joburg. On Sunday morning we will leave this metropolis to head north, towards Chad and drier climate. Maybe I can finally get my sleeping bag in dry and nice shape again (not that I have needed it lately).

Cities are a neccessary evil in traveling the way we are doing. If you want to proceed with a new country, you need a visa. That has unfortunately to be done in the biggest cities where there are offices, electricity and very important people. This time around we are gambelling and going north without a visa, hoping that can be retrieved in Garoua.
