On the road, Central African Republic - Sunday 24 June 2007 - Presentation of CAR
CAR is a former French colony of Ubangi-Shari and became the Central African Republic upon independence in 1960. It was in early 1900 and until Second World War part of French Equatorial Africa together with Chad, Congo Brazzaville and Gabon CAR is one of the poorest countries in Africa and still struggles with unrest in the countryside, mostly in the east. With almost twice the size of Norway, the population density is low with less than 4 million people.
Although it felt that we had nothing but rain here, the climate is stabile, but equatorial, meaning hot and humid. The rainy season started last month and will last until november, so 10 year old Djenya is used to the wet conditions, and as you can see on the picture, very well prepared.
