Bata, Equatorial Guinea - Sunday 3 June 2007 - Deep in the rainforest

On Saturday we got an invitation to join Phillippe as he was visiting his timber workers in the rainforest. It was an interesting trip where we experienced first hand how the timber tigers worked. Phillippe and Christine are busy with some bungalow projects on their property and they need wood. It took six men five days to log a 20 meter high redwood tree and chop it into proper sized boards.

My friend Einar "Byggern" Lervik would probably have managed to do it in three days, but that's another story. We had a great day and visited two villages on our way back to "civilization". Phillippe is really making an effort to make our stay something special and on Sunday he plan to take us across the river to visit some neighbourhood families.
