Ndola, Gabon - Wednesday 30 May 2007 - O' rainy day
From the first moment, I knew that this was a spectacular city, actually a city to consider as a retirement "village". Its not too big and also not too small, it is modern and you can find what you need even as a spoiled European. AND you have the beach and all the friendly people surrounding it. Eli mentioned that she was going to buy an apartment here, so here opinion is about the same as mine. First impression was bad as I had to deal with a drunk policeman close to market. He wanted my papers and I didn't want him to have them. It almost came to a fist fight, but when he grabbed for the gun, I gave up. Well, what I thought was the gun. It was only a walkie talkie and he was calling for backup. After 30 minutes I got my papers back and the policeman lost his gamble for money. Its a shame that the officers salary are so low that they have to rob people for money.
And then you have the rain. Heavy and brutal rain (at least that is what you feel living inside "Voiture"). We met a nice Dutch couple at the beach the other day and they experience the same challenge with the massive downpour. Just to mention, they are also travelling in a Defender.
We decided to move on on Tuesday after getting both our Cameroonian and Equatorial Guinea visa, so we left Libreville late in the afternoon on our way back north. We will cross the border to Equatorial Guinea on Thursday, most likely...
