Oshakati, Namibia - Sunday 15 April 2007 - On Monday we depart for Angola

It might be a gender thing, or just that tradition has made it too easy for boys/men to participate providing water. I tested out this young man to see if he was capable of carrying the bucket out of the water, the "traditional" way. He got five attempts, but failed on all of them. I made an interview with a boy from Mozambique a year ago and I asked him why his sisters had to work more than him at home. "Because I am a boy" he replied. I guess equality and gender issues will take more than decades to improve. In the mean time, let remember that it is a lot of boys that are participating a lot at home and we shouldn't fail to recognize those who do.

Monday afternoon we will continue our quest and eventually sign into the Portuguese speaking Angola.
