Somewhere in Zambia - Wednesday 21 March 2007 - A dramatic turn of events
Driving alone creates tension in situations as we experienced on Tuesday. One muzungu arguing with 20 locals about which track to take. I think, being stubborn might have saved me ending up as the gentleman on the picture above. The most exciting moment however was when a Coca Cola truck came and wanted to squeeze between Betsy and the 22 wheeler. I managed to drive out of the "highway" to prevent him from hitting me. The cars are totally without control on a surface like this. The Cola truck made it, a Land Cruiser made it and so it was Betsys turn. AND she made it.
The first six hours driving on Tuesday gave me 28 km/h average, but managed to clock 633 kilometer in total. I never looked that forward to see tar as I did on Tuesday! I really got goose bumps...
