Nairobi, Kenya - Thursday 16 March 2007 - A  long journey south

On Sunday 18th March, we will depart from Nairobi on our way south to SAR. It might be too much of a challenge to do this leg in a week, but we are trying to go for it! This is how we are planning the trip; Two nights in Tanzania, three nights in Zambia, one night in Botswana and a days drive "home" to Johannesburg 25th March 2007. People are asking me why I need to go all the way to South Africa before climbing up to West Africa and the answer is very simple. I need a vacation!!! Yes, VACATION...and meeting "old" friends... During the short pit stop in SA, I will have a medical check-up, Betsy will undergo some improvements, new equipment is to be purchased and general upgrade of my penthouse, galley and storage rooms. I might forget about dust proofing the vehicle, but it will also be looked into. A visit to British 4x4 in Pretoria is also on the agenda...

We plan to leave for Namibia in the beginning of April, and crossing the Angolan border by 10th April 2007. The itinerary for West Africa is undergoing some adjustments and you will find the new dates for that part of Africa very soon. That way you can also figure out when its YOUR turn to join in as co-pilot.
