Yei, Sudan - Monday 26 February 2007 - Change of events

As I wrote to a friend of mine from Cameroon, I should have been in West Africa long time ago, zipping to a colorful cocktail looking at this year bikini fashion at the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. If something can be called the contrary to that, it must be the lush bush of Southern Sudan with a growing concern that the rainy season is lurking around the corner, premature and very annoying.

When my previously so trusted companion, Betsy gives me the finger every second week, I just have to be serious about the given signals and consider another route. Egypt has been mentioned, also going all the way south of DRC and up Angola from there. The latter seams to be the one that I choose. This means I have to step backwards for a month, driving in the same path that took me up north. There I will make a u-turn and climb into the Portuguese speaking territories in the west.

First of all, I have to make sure Betsy is well enough to take me to Nakuru, where she will be attended to by professionals. Been there, done that … This is a slight change of events, but it doesn’t mean that I give up the western part of Africa. Keep coming back to the web, I will not keep quiet.
