Yei, Sudan - Friday 23 February 2007 - Visiting NPA Mine Action deminers in Yei

On Thursday we were invited by NPA and John Sorbo to visit the teams in the field, and the above picture shows the Mine Action Woman's team lead by section leader Besta. These woman have been working for Norwegian Peoples Aid Mine Action for two years and consist of 16 highly dedicated women who are manually searching for mines in the Yei County region. The area has been heavily mined by both SPLA and Sudanese government during the war and it is a difficult task clearing the areas around villages and roads. I will be posting a more in dept blog about the visit in the mine fields later, until then have a look at some pictures in the Sudanese country page.
