Juba, Sudan - Sunday 18 February 2007 - Going west, in search for the Atlantic Ocean
Cape2Cape continues its quest to reach the Atlantic ocean and rolled out of Juba on Sunday morning, west towards the border of Central Afican Republic. Betsy is again "road worthy" after receiving "one hell of a beating" down the road from Malakal. Two days on horrible roads without suspention makes the ride dangerous and uncomfortable, so we are happy that we could weld the brackets and fix that problem before continuing. Both doors was loose and needed to be put back where they belonged and the funny mixture of oil is changed with proper engine oil and we feel now that she is in good enough shape to cross the continent.
I have heard comments that Betsy is not going to "make it" and will fall apart before reaching Egypt, but I have faith and I know she will keep her self together until the end of this journey. Knowing that I will get experthelp in West Africa are strengthening that belief.
The road to the border goes through these villages; Yei, Maridi and Tambura. We estimate to reach the next country late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Keep an eye on the web the next two weeks as we are crossing the African continent.
