Malakal, Sudan - Thursday 1 February 2007 - ONE year on the African roads

We are celebrating one year on the road in Africa. Since February 1st 2006 (which not seems so far away) when we drove to Alexandra in Johannesburg to say farewell to Ouma and family until now where we have landed in the middle of Sudan taking advantage of Ter's and ADRA's hospitality, we have traveled well over 50.000 kilometer. Actually I must have misread my previous records as I though we have clocked close to 65.000 km by now. Time flies when you have fun, and that's what these first 19 countries have been. Not a boring moment (hmmm... take three weeks in Asmara away from that statement), hundreds of new friends and thousands of impressions. Not to mention all my incredible co-pilots that have tried to learn how to travel and live together with Betsy and my self. AND this is just half way, reaching the goal of over 45 African states before New Year 2007. Let it be as joyful as the first year, then I promise a visit to this site will be worth while. Happy reading.
