El Noba, Sudan - Wednesday 17 January 2007 - Rescued by Abdulsalam from Far Best!

On Tuesday morning I had faith in my saviours and to make sure I was awake when they started to scramble under Betsy's hood, I was up at six thirty. It so happened that "my mechanic" was very late and only showed up at around eleven!!! And I hoped to meet my friends at the Norwegian Embassy around lunchtime. Well, I didn't give up and when they first started to work on Betsy it went very quick.

After two hours the journey was about to continue and I paid, shaking hands and off we went, for about 28,3 kilometres... ... Temperature up high, ohh my ohh my... Same procedure as the previous day and now even closer to Land Rover workshops in the capital. I had to decide what to do, trying to go to town or going back to the local heroes. I choose the latter as it was a bit shorter and if they could not sort it out, they could help me with a rescue car to tow me to the city.

There was nothing else to do than put on the t-shirt from yesterday and crawl under the car and try to fasten the bolt again, drive and fasten again, and again.... As I was cooling down my lady a gentleman stopped and asked me if I needed some help. Yes, I could sure use a hand...

It was Abdulsalam from Khartoum on his way the oposite direction and what a fellow... He towed me back to the workshop and offered me to stay at his place in Khartoum when he came back on Thursday. Stay as long as I wanted. Dobbel WoW... He also had a workshop called Far Best Auto Service, so if I am failing to get Betsy repared tomorrow, he will be my backup plan. But definately, I will stay at his place when I (if I) ever get to Kharoum :-))))
