Ethiopia, Friday  1 December 2006 -  We are back in Addis Ababa

Our fellow travellers from Austria (Marc Sztatecsny and Christine Strondl) had some mechanical problems with their 34 year old yellow Land Rover (picture above). After some welding and repair on Wednesday evening, they were able to continue their adventure south to the capitol Addis Ababa. We joined them on part of the route and I must say, that old bugger of a Defender made quite an impression.

Still in mint condition and surprisingly without a name, we christened it St. George in order to squeeze some money out of a local brewery in Ethiopia. We have to see how successful that stunt will be. St. George is on his way back to Cape Town after Marc's parents drove it to Europe in the early seventies. Two brave Austrians, one super car and tons of fun, we wish them all the luck on the way south. I wonder if Betsy will return to her homeland and I also wonder by whom!
