Ethiopia, Friday 24 November 2006 -  Camping at an altitude of 3100 meter

The way people are dressed in the mountain in Ethiopia reminds me a lot of Lesotho (see above picture). We are camping close to a village, with a magnificent scenic view over the endless plateaus of rural farming land. Its fresh, its clean, quiet and hmmmm...very cold! Which normally shouldn't be a problem for two Scandinavian travellers, but I guess we are not as normal as we like to think.

BUT, we don't like to share with you that the nights are cold. How can we annoy people at home if we experience the same numbers on the thermometer? We can of course lie, but that's not nice one month before Christmas Eve. I would rather freeze my nose off and write about it, just as it is!

We are on our way north, to see the stunning waterfalls that blends in with the Blue Nile. It is a 500 kilometre detour before going to Djibouti. The people we meet are all nice and forthcoming. The children love to pose in front of the camera, men are greeting us politely and women are smiling. I still don't understand the problem people experience in Ethiopia. So far, we are thrilled to be here.
