Ethiopia, Wednesday 22 November 2006 - And the Priests are singing
|
Johan is used to Africa, but maybe not used to the the "openness" of the African city wildlife, and human influence thereof! We are talking about the sounds of the urban jungle, and it can be somewhat different from the Scandinavian kind. Barking dogs, screaming donkies, cars, trucks, religious worship and common "street life". How can you get used to that? Well, for common visiting Musungu its kinda unusual and especially when canvas is the only barrier or shield to keep the annoying noise out. On Tuesday we woke up before it was time to wake up, because of some local religious maniac started singing, singing through loudspeakers that were probably manufactured to be used for air strike alarms. Actually that's how it sounded as well! They were celebrating some catholic holiday, and around 11 in the morning, we were both laughing about our own irritation and joined the celebration (see above photo). |
