Kenya, Wednesday 8 November 2006 - This, I would say, is challenging!
|
The same day as I said goodbye to Alex and Beth, I met Mannon Ossevoort (28) at my Internet hotspot Cafe in Nairobi. She is amazingly driving this Deutz tractor all the from a small island in northern Holland to the SOUTH POLE... Well, if the Deutz will go all the way remains to be seen, but she is definitely going to the pole with or without the tractor and the dog. Someone told me that what I am doing is a challenge, but compared to this young lady's expedition, my trip is just another comfortable journey through Africa. She left Holland 18 months ago and it will be another year before she is in South Africa. Before this trip she worked as an actress in Holland, but as one of the newspaper article said. This is the longest theatre performance she will ever be part of. As if this meeting was not enough for one day, I met my friend Siri Sæland's sister at the same place. She is living in Nairobi together with her husband and due to that encounter, I have now contacts in Juba, Sudan. They recommended me a different route, so we will see what happens. |
