Uganda, Monday 9 October 2006 - Queen Elisabeth national park in Uganda

Safari means travel in Swahili, for us it means specifically wildlife experiences with a twist. On Sunday we only had an hour drive in the national park, and got a taste of what hopefully we can expect the next two days in the park. Lion, Elephants, buffaloes, hippos, monkeys and lots of antelopes. I was not sure what to expect here in Uganda, so I am very happy that my co-pilots could see some exotic game.

We camped by the river in a public campsite, with no fences what so ever. 25 meters away we have a family of hippos splashing in the brown river water. Maybe it was the excitement of getting so close to the wildlife that kept my co-pilots awake most of the night, but I am sure they agree it is worth it.

We are spending two nights in the park, so hopefully there will lots more to report in a couple of days. The above lion was captured by Einar Lervik with his award winning Canon digital pocket camera.
