Kenya, Tuesday 29 August 2006 - Co-pilot Jens Auset arrived on Monday night
|
Everything is set for two weeks excitement (almost golf free) and despite that, hopefully some fun as well. Jens has previously joined me on safari and is known to have as much luck as Hans Blaser at Tarhi camp in Tsavo East, Kenya. As mentioned on Jens' profile, we saw the big five twice in 24 hours (missing one buffalo) in Kruger national park, South Africa. What will happen these two weeks he is joining Cape2Cape is not yet decided, but we know that we will have a peak at Serengeti national park. If we will travel to Kenya again, Dar Es Salaam, Selous or Zanzibar, well that is something we have to agree upon, over a gin tonic preferably. Arusha, which is situated at the base of Mount Meru (second biggest mountain in Tanzania 4.565m) is a busy hub for tourism traffic generated by the famous Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest mountain 5.892m) and Serengeti and Ngorongoro national parks. Close to 150.000 lives in Arusha and it has become a vibrant administrative and commercial centre for the region. |
