Kenya, Monday 28 August 2006 - Meeting up with the Tumaimi family in Kenya
|
We managed to do a small "goodwill drop" on Sunday, 10 kilometres from the Tanzanian border. Esther Tumaimi lost her husband two years ago and left behind three children aged 17, 13 and 7 years old. HIV AIDS is again the cause of a family tragedy in the rural Kenya. The husband Joseph was the only source of income for the family and they are now left with a a skeleton of a house he was building and a single cow is grazing on their property in the small village of Oiti. With the help of Tore Ovlien and Continental Norway, we were able to spice up their Sunday a little bit by giving them clothes and other World Cup Soccer 2006 souvenirs from Continental. Living so far away from the main road, they are not used to see to many tourist coming their way and surely never got any visits in their two room house in Xxxx village. Thanks a lot to Tore and Continental for being part of this Goodwill project, you managed to give something to someone that needed a little something. We are now back in Tanzania and are expecting a new co-pilot on Monday. Jens Auset (brother) will arrive at Killemanjaro airport and hopefully filled with excitement and anticipation. Vel møtt Jens! |
