Zanzibar, Sunday 30 July 2006 - Rune in diving modus on the hunt for mermaids.
|
Zanzibar is well known to be a perfect diving destination and is said to have the best conditions for diving and snorkelling in the Indian Ocean. Rune is about to find it out. On Sunday he will go diving in the waters outside Zanzibar town to find tropical fish, nudie branches, shellfish, colourful corals and I asked him to fetch me a couple of mermaids. His adventure will contain diving in a wreck which is known to host lots of barracudas (although not fully grown yet) and also snappers. I should also be abundance of soft corals on a depth of about 30 meters. The best diving sites are on the northern side of the island, but he is testing out the spots close to town first. Before the trip started I almost finished a diving course in Pretoria, but due to some circumstances, I didn't complete the training. I need a few dives in the ocean and also submitting the theory part. This means I will only do some snorkelling on this trip, but maybe not on Zanzibar. The reason for me to take the diving course in the first place was to enable me to take pictures down there. Equipment for that kind of activity has proven to be too costly and so I decided to abandon that dream (for now). |
