Zanzibar, Saturday 29 July 2006 - Being away from Betsy gives us night life opportunities.

Stonetown is an integrated part of Zanzibar city and the narrow streets gives you a relief from the hazardous traffic elsewhere around town. Although the cars cant drive through stonetown the Vespa's and motorcycles can. So keep your head clear and be alert, there is not much mercy if you are blocking the road. Normally they hoot, so as long as you are not deaf you can survive the jam. I find it utterly strange that most of the drivers in the countries I have been travelling become maniacs as soon as they seat themselves on a motorcycle or vehicle. Rest of time it looks like time is a unit which you are not that concern about or occupied by. If you have any idea why it is like this, I would be very interested in receiving some viewpoints? As Betsy is no longer in focus, we find time to explore Zanzibar's vibrating nightlife. Our apartment is just a few minutes from the city centre, so its accessible. The prices are reasonable cheap as you can get a beer for 50 cents, but stay away from the GT as it will destroy the budget. |
