Tanzania, Wednesday 19 July 2006 - Meet Renato Rosini (80) an Italian living in Tanzania since 1953

This gentleman opened his property for Betsy and myself in Bagamoyo, 75 kilometres north of Dar Es Salaam. A loud and clear Italian, which in it self is not so unusual. Being 80 years old and living the last 53 of them in Africa would surely make it above an average Italian personality. He owns a huge property next to the big hotels and resort along the beach north of the city centre of Bagamoyo.

Since arriving in Rwanda and Urundi (Burundi now) in 1953, he has been doing everything from hunting crocodiles, elephant and lions to inventing a machine that can extract oil from almost anything. Peanuts, sunflower, olives and the clever thing with his machinery is that it can extract up to 50 % from the original substance. He was once invited to a local tribe in Malawi some 40 years ago and he believes that he could add another type of meat to his already huge list. They served a stew which consisted of human meat. That time (as now) he couldn't say no when being served by the chief and his tribesmen.

Renato is now tired of Tanzania and all the muggings, treats and harassment both from civilians, military and police, so he is moving back to Italy after finalized the sale of this property.
