Malawi, Sunday 9 July 2006 - Meeting Malawi´s Future in front of the "English classroom"
|
We stopped by a magnificent viewpoint overlooking lake Malawi to shoot some panorama photos. Close by we saw some small abandoned old houses and went over to look. And there they were, three boys playing with their plastic bundled football, old dirty clothes but smiling like no other as someone came and had time to sit down for a chat. We took a closer look at the houses and we realized it was actually school buildings. 50 children attended these tiny rooms which was in such a bad shape that you in "our western world" would have been arrested to keep domestic animals in them. Truly another project in which we could have used some Goodwill money. We gave the kids some exercise books and pens and a rubber football and made their day a bit different than excepted. Photo: This is Future sitting in front of the classroom where they learned English and math. He wore a nice but dirty sweater with a broidery picture on front saying "SKI CHAMP". It might have been some Swiss, Austrian or Scandinavians here before? |
