Malawi, Wednesday 5 July 2006 - We wanted to go back to Lake Malawi.

After spending a night in Kasungu national park we planned to spend the day game driving, but the military commandos from Britain let us down. Eli had also problem sleeping in the moist and cold weather, she didn't plan her wardrobe to suit winter conditions. It was 7,2 degrees Celsius when we woke up at six the next morning, so the decision was quite easy, we drove eastwards. Getting back to "normalized" temperature and camping close to a city called Dwangwa. We are camped on the beach and without any tourists in sight but us. The kids on the picture were making an outing together with us, as we took a detour off the main road to take a closer look at a fishing village. As you can see on the picture, we were welcomed by the thousands and we concluded that camping at the village would be too much of a hassle. The day was spent mostly in the car, we are not racing through the villages, so it took us almost nine hours from the park to the ocean. 229 kilometres. |
