Malawi, Monday 19 June 2006 - Counting country number nine, Malawi.

What a wonderful day! On the picture you can see police officer Lisa welcoming us to Malawi. It looks more like we were entering the turbulent city of Monrovia and not the tranquil Malawi. Lisa was nice and let me through though. We came through the border post at 13.30 on Sunday and managed to save some money using my wounded lion cub eyes again. They was about to charge me for filling out papers that already was filled out!!! And I said pleeease, don't do that! And he listened. It is much better to be humble and polite as it most often pays off. The other day I was asked if I could see any difference in each country we were travelling in, and I must say it looks quite similar. People are going about doing their own business although Betsy makes quite an impression as she float into each new village. Mabye one tiny difference here in Malawi as it feels like the traffic is more "angry". And I get occasionally pissed off when these huge Toyota vehicles with international aid workers drive like maniacs, sometimes two inches behind Betsy's tail... I guess they are in a hurry saving lives, or maybe they are late to another cocktail party??? |
