Mozambique, Friday 16 June 2006 - A different World Cup on rural gravel fotball fields in Afrika

We have now travelled through some countries in the southern part of Africa and its the same all over. Football is what brings these poor kids to life. No matter the equipment, football fields or support, they shine as they play ball together. They know the game though, they know the stars, the dream teams. They are on top of it, although there is no cabel TV.

Its difficult to say who has the most fun, if it is these poor rural youngsters in Mozambique or the ones in more organized communities that has parents driving them to practise, kicking the ball with their Puma or Adidas shoes, occasionally corrected by one or two coaches. Well, the ball these kids were playing with, would not have been accepted by any of the kids from my village in Kyrksæterøra, thats for sure.
