Botswana 25 April 2006 - A fantastic day up river in the Chobe national park.
|
On Monday afternoon we joined a chartered tour up the river from Kasane into the Chobe national park and what an afternoon. Perfect sunset and hundreds of hippos, wading elephants, baboons, vervet monkeys, impala, kudu and much more. We also saw all sizes of crocodilles, so to make the day even more perfect there was a bartender serving chilled drinks!! Even though the prices were far too expensive for cape2cape's budget, it was well worth the trip. We don't like to talk about it, but you kind of get used to see elephants after driving through elephant territory for the last three days. We must have counted three hundred all together. No matter how many, we always feel the urge to just halt and admire these creatures. It was an amazing experience as it was outside the national park boundary and we were truly in the wild. On Tuesday we ascend to country number six, Zambia. Where we will go is not yet decided, but probably somewhere north of Livingstone as we have to bee back to the Vic falls in the beginning of May to receive additional crew members. |
