We ended up on this spot, after
trying three different camps in the area. It couldnt
have been more idyllic for us. Belinda and her two
companions camped near by and recommended me to Nakuru
for servicing Betsy. Good choice!

A little bit boring as it was no
hippos luring in the water at night. Nice view though
and the camp had everything you wished for, even
internet connection. |

The second camp in Uganda was located
20 meters off the main road and served us fine. It was a
primate research centre who was engadge in recording the
wildlife traffic from one forest to the other. The
picture shows how difficult remote photography can be.

This is camping life at its best.
Self contained food, beverages, fire and abundance of
wildlife close by makes this really "cool". The river
was floating only 10 meters away from our spot and we
counted at least 15 hippos playing in the water below.

We even had our own guard tower,
which was very convenent now during rainy season. Two
armed guards sat there the whole night, so we felt
pretty safe (all of us). |

A campsite just for us! We were the
only guests here and looking around we figured out why.
The maintenance was not present and hasn't been for a
while. There were two other camps in the area which was
better, but we didn't know. Being alone is worth some
mess.

We got a key and could use the huts
for toilet and shower (not hot though, but refreshing
cold). We even got our own sitting arrangement close to
the campsite. |
